About Us
Our business began back in 1956 in Mokena, IL.
Willard Munch was having difficulty finding electrical supplies in the area. He grew tired of traveling to Chicago for supplies, and figured it would help him and his electrical contractor friends if there was a local source for supplies. He wanted a place that provided good service, kept a good stock of merchandise, and was easy to do business with.
He began by selling electrical supplies out of the family garage in Mokena, Illinois. He was a union electrician by day, and in the evenings, operated the supply business. The family only had one vehicle, a pickup truck, which served not only as the sole means of family transportation, but also as a business vehicle used for pickups and deliveries.
As the business grew, so did the need for room. In 1968 the business was relocated to Joliet. In the early 1970’s, a decision was made to add Heating and Cooling products to the offering, which today is our main business focus.
Our first branch was opened in Morris, IL. in 1972. The expansion continued in the 80’s, with branch openings in Alsip and Hillside. In 1987, Munch’s Supply became the first American Standard Heating and Air Conditioning distributor in the country. In the early 90’s, branches were added in Aurora and Wheeling, and in 1996, the headquarters moved from Joliet to New Lenox, into a custom-built, state-of- the-art distribution facility.
 Today, Munch’s Supply is a third generation family business operating six branches in the Chicago and NW Indiana markets. We distribute from over three hundred fifty thousand square feet of warehouse space and have over forty trucks supplying area contractors.
