Munch’s Supply purchases Colorado-based Comfort Air Distributing
Munch’s Supply, a leading Midwest-based heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) distributor has acquired Comfort Air Distributing and its three Colorado branches. This will expand the company’s geographic footprint to 27 locations in nine states.
“The Comfort Air Distributing purchase is part of Munch’s long-term strategy to expand our platform into other regions through strategic acquisitions,” said Munch’s CEO Robert Munch. “We are excited to welcome Comfort Air Distributing’s customers and employees. Customer service will remain our number-one priority.”
The company will continue to operate under the Comfort Air Distributing name offering Rheem heating and air conditioning equipment. It will continue to serve Colorado and 13 Wyoming counties out of branches in Denver, Centennial, and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
“We couldn’t have made it 30 years without the tremendous support from our customers and team members. I am very happy to find a trusted company in Munch’s to continue the Comfort Air legacy,” said Comfort Air Distributing President Jim O’Mara.
“Jim and Dave have done a wonderful job building a company with great people and culture. These are only found in the best organizations, and we are happy to support the team to continue to build on this foundation,” said Munch.
The union of these two companies demonstrates Munch’s ongoing commitment to the HVAC marketplace.
Dave Schrock, Executive Vice President of Comfort Air Distributing, added, “We are excited to find a company with a similar culture that is focused on family values. It was important for us to find a partner who cared about our employees as much as we do.”
Munch’s Supply has been operating in the Chicagoland area since 1956. Rotunda Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on lower middle-market and family-owned holdings, acquired a majority stake in Munch’s in 2015.
After entering the Michigan market in 2015, we have been looking to expand our footprint from the three locations we acquired from Ingersoll Rand. Our territory in Michigan covers a large geography and we feel (and many of you have told us!) that to properly meet your needs, we must have a strategy that provides convenient locations throughout the state. Our most recent expansion to Livonia was the first step in increasing our facility size at a location more convenient for many of you.
I am happy to announce that on August 1st, we completed the acquisition of Tommark Inc. Tommark is a Michigan-based company with five locations. They have facilities in Coldwater, Jackson, Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Saginaw. Yes Saginaw! Finally, a branch to better serve those of you in the Tri-City area and northern market.
The company is currently led by two brothers, Jon and Scott Larson. There are many things that excite us about Tommark. In addition to their footprint, they have a great team that has built an organization focused on customer service and family values.
Both Scott and Jon will be joining the Munch team. Their primary focus in the near term will be working on the integration of our companies. Our goal is to have Tommark locations providing you with additional services along with an expanded equipment and supply inventory no later than January 1, 2019. In the meantime, there is a lot of work to be done to be ready by year end. I hope this summer weather is treating your business well, and I look forward to serving you as our footprint continues to grow.
As always, feel free to reach out to me, if you have any questions.
Thank you for your business!
